BARLBY HIGH SCHOOL IS PART OF

Non-uniform Day for Cry in the Dark

Barlby High students send Christmas thoughts and funds to Romania

Barlby High School has held a non-uniform day to raise money for one of its chosen charities Cry in the Dark. The total raised so far is a fantastic £570.

Fiona Lee, Vice Principal: Staffing & Teaching and Learning at Barlby High School said “We are so proud of the way our students continue to put our school value of compassion into action. At this time of year, we normally pack Christmas boxes filled with toys, stationery, sweets, hats, scarves, gloves and other items for children who otherwise would not receive a present at Christmas.

“As this is not possible this year, the money raised will help ensure that Romanian families and children receive a Christmas meal.”

Barlby High School is part of the Hope Learning Trust which has a longstanding relationship with Cry in the Dark. A number of students and staff from Hope have spent time volunteering in Romania on one of the charity’s many projects. In 2018, a group of Year 10 students from Barlby High (pictured below) volunteered in Romania, working with children living in poverty and a further group were hoping to return in July 2020 to meet some of the recipients of the shoeboxes, but due to Covid restrictions this was not possible.
