Barlby High colleagues, parents and the community have been sharing in the achievements of their young people at the school’s annual Celebrating Success Evening.
Last year’s Year 11 leavers were invited to attend the event where they received their GCSE certificates and selected students were presented with special awards and shields, marking some of their achievements whilst they were at Barlby High. Key Stage 3 students were also awarded with a book of their choice for most effort or progress made in certain subjects. (A full list of award winners can be seen below.)
Guests were welcomed by Principal, Julie Caddell and guest speaker Katherine Humpleby, Secondary School Improvement Lead at Hope Learning Trust and Head Boy and Head Girl, Dylan Bruton and Ella Crofford, also addressed the audience.
Some of the Key Stage 3 and 4 students performed on the evening, in a choir, as solo artists and on the piano. Three Year 8 students, Robyn Chambers, Lily Collins and Lillian Cooper also recited poetry which focused on aspirations and how you should not let anyone stop you from achieving your goals and ambitions.
Huge congratulations to everyone!

YR 8 reading list has been emailed to YR 8 parents today. Remember 'Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are'. With the current weather & the lockdown why not take sometime time to escape from it all in the pages of a book. @BarlbyEng @Barlby_High pic.twitter.com/zXaC…
Just had a fabulous lesson with Year 8 students where they presented their own research on weapons of the First World War. Some shared slide shows with the class while others composed poetry. I couldn't get them off the meeting when our time was up! Fabulous. @Barlby_High
