Students are only allowed to leave the premises at lunchtime to go home. This is only permitted with written parental permission and a pass approved by the school.
Leave of Absence
There have been regulatory changes to regulations for authorisation of absences during term time since September 2013. Please see the Absence request form
Better attendance improves learning and success!
When deciding whether your child needs to stay at home please remember that early morning aches and pains often pass so please don’t keep your child at home ‘just in case’ when they could be learning in class. Try sending them to school ‘just in case’ they get better as the day goes on.
Did you know?
As a parent/carer it is your legal responsibility to make sure that your child attends school regularly. By law all children of compulsory school age (between 5 and 16) are required to receive an education.
Our school procedures
The school can only authorise leave in exceptional circumstances.
Parents/Carers can be prosecuted and/or fined if absences are unauthorised. The school is responsible by law for reporting poor attendance to the Local Authority (NYCC).
If your child is ill, you must phone the school and inform them of your child’s absence every day that they are absent. This absence must then be supported by a letter, on your child’s return, to explain their absence for our school records. If your child is off for longer than 5 days a medical note is required for our records.
